Yesterday Go-Go went off to horse camp once again. This year she took the bus up, and Tileman chaperoned. When we received the camp confirmation this year, it had the $40 bus fee tacted on and said, the Girl Scouts will credit you if you are not taking the bus.
As someone with a college degree, I read this as - you pay the $40 and you'll get it back if you're not taking the bus. Since Tileman was chaperoning, we did not have to pay but I did. Tileman said that was okay; they gave him paperwork to fill out for the credit. They want their money and want to make sure you do show up to chaperone before giving you the credit.
However, I'm not the only one who was confused by the new billing process. At the first bus stop - a lot of parents showed up with girls who were not registered for the bus because they thought it was part of the program. None of the volunteer check-in people figured this out until they got to the second bus stop and the buses didn't have enough room! Tileman said, the girls got up to camp - he started seating them 3 to a seat. He wasn't sure about the luggage though; they had to get a truck to bring up a lot of it because it didn't all fit in the buses.
