There are a few things I have found my b-i-l needs to learn about cat litter. #1) How to change it!!! I went to clean it out this morning and found it caked to the bottom of the box, which brings me to #2) cats don't need that much litter!!! He must have had 3 pounds of litter in there. You line a litter box with newspaper and then add enough litter for a cat to scratch that really is all you need. More litter just makes for a big mess and the excuse you don't need to clean it that frequently. (The litter on top looked clean if only I knew how much litter was actually caked to the bottom of the box.) Wondering if my b-i-l actually cleaned out the litter or just kept adding fresh litter. And #3) the Little One has been scratching ALOT since the arrival of dumb cats. Cats are gonna be out of my house very soon.
I miss my cat, Hunter. There is something to be said of outdoor cats who don't use litter boxes; they go outside. I think my little one is allergic to cat "mess" more than to cats. She was fine with our cat, but as soon as he disappeared to make room for a different in-law's cat, the Little One started scratching and feeling miserable, which is why that cat was gone within 2 weeks.
